Aces & Faces Video Poker

Aces & Faces is one of the more popular single-line video poker versions. As with most games of video poker the object of Aces & Faces is to obtain a winning five-card poker hand. In Aces & Faces, however, what constitutes a winning hand is altered in several compelling ways. A four of a kind made of aces or face cards is rewarded with an extra high payout and is worth more than a straight flush. Furthermore, the lowest winning card combination is in this game pair of jacks.

Betting options

Betting options in Aces & Faces will look and feel familiar to those who have played video poker before. The betting limit can be changed from one round to the next so that you do not need to change machines should you wish to raise or lower your stake limit. An Aces & Faces video poker game will typically allow maximum bets of $.25, $.50, $1, and $5 increments. After this is decided, and before your cards are drawn, you will also be allowed to place anywhere from one to five bets. You could play one hand at a modest $.25 and the next at a capricious $25. Naturally, higher stakes contain within them the potential for higher reward, but the choice and risk is entirely up to you.

Doubling is a further betting option in Aces & Faces video poker, one given to players after winning a hand. Doubling in Aces & Faces video poker is a rather Monty Haul procedure where the dealer gives itself a card, face-up, and then deals four cards face-down from which you must choose one. If your card ranks higher than the dealer’s you double your rewards and can attempt to double again. In case of a tie you may try to double one more time, or change your mind and take your original winning amount. If your card ranks lower than the dealer’s you lose it all.

The payout schedule

The payout schedule of Aces & Faces is different than other forms of video poker. After dealt your first hand of cards you will want to examine them closely; compare them to the payout schedule on screen. Viable hands should be held, with priority going to hands with the highest payout potential. For the sake of convenience, and for getting a feel for the odds, rankings, and rewards specific to Aces & Faces, the following is a standard pay-out schedule for this video poker game:
