Deuces Wild is one of the many variants of video poker and is popular on online betting sites. Deuces Wild is played with a standard 52 card deck but the game is differentiated from standard poker in that all four cards with a face value of 2 (the Deuces) are designated as wild cards. These can be used in lieu of a card of any face value to make a winning combination. This greatly increases the odds of having a winning hand and therefore the payout table generally requires 3 of a kind or better to constitute a winning hand.

In Deuces Wild poker, the player chooses to bet from one to five coins and receives five cards dealt face up. The player must then evaluate their hand and determine which, if any, cards to discard. Once chosen, the computer will allocate the same number of replacement cards and determines the best value of the hand, including the deuces if applicable, and pays out according to the result. Note that in video poker the player is attempting to get a winning hand as defined by the Payout table for the game provider, they are not playing against anyone else.

Deuces Wild poker betting options

Betting options are as follows:

  • Natural Royal Flush - This is the highest hand in Deuces Wild video poker and consists of the following cards, all of the same suit, without wild cards: Ten, Jack, Queen, King, and Ace.
  • 4 Deuces - This is any hand containing all four deuces.
  • Deuces Royal Flush - The Royal Flush has been completed with the inclusion of one deuce.
  • Five of a Kind - Four cards of the same denomination plus a deuce.
  • Straight Flush - A combination of five cards of the same suit, all in sequence, can include a wild card.
  • Four of a Kind - A combination of four cards of the same denomination, can include a wild card.
  • Full House - Three cards of one denomination and two cards of another denomination; may include a wild card.
  • Flush - Five cards of the same suit may include a wild card.
  • Straight - Five cards of any suit in sequence; may include a wild card.
  • Three of a Kind - Three cards of the same denomination plus any two other cards, may include a wild card.

Payout schedules may differ depending upon the Deuces Wild poker site, however they generally payout in direct relation to the size of the initial bet, so the lowest winning hand, three of a kind, will payout 1 coin for a 1 coin bet and 5 coins for a five coin bet. The general exception is for a Natural Royal Flush, the highest hand in Deuces Wild, where a 1 coin bet may payout 500 coins, however if the initial stake were 5 coins, the payout could be 4,000 coins.
